Summary: The Pens have almost the same number of draftees on their team as players acquired by trade, and are pretty even in points. The Penguins are a great team because they draft well AND Ray Shero makes some amazing trades. Without Crosby/Malkin this is still a really talented team, though their presence makes everyone better, and they are a big reason why players like Kunitz and Dupuis produce the way they do. It’s a cohesive unit working together, that has been masterfully constructed by Ray Shero.
“Crosby, who has not played since his jaw was fractured by a deflected shot March 30, is expected to seek medical clearance today or Friday to resume playing.
If that’s given, he would not return to the lineup for the Penguins’ game at New Jersey tonight or the regular-season finale Saturday against Carolina at Consol Energy Center, but dressing for Game 1 of the playoffs is not out of the question.”

In honor of Matt Cooke Appreciation Day, I give you Matt Cooke’s greatest goal of all time ever.

BABY FLEURY IS ON THE WAY!!
The Penguins NHL14 Candidates are Geno and Letang!
Go vote here!
unfortunately, the first round is choosing between the two :/
here is the link to where the voting will be!
for some reason like every team except the Pens has announced who their two candidates are, so I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
My guess is that will be definitely Sid and maybe Letang or Neal.
We can’t lose again this year!

This is a chart that shows players splits this season of their production against playoff teams vs. non playoff teams. (obviously is subject to change slightly as it is based on the current top 8s)
Crosby points against playoff teams: 32 (the most in the league)
Ovi points against playoff teams: 11, and only 5 since 3/14.
Sid only has 4 more games played against playoff teams than Ovi.
Part of being “valuable” is being able to score when your teams needs to you against strong opponents, not beating up on the Southeast.
